Agency: Russia fish catch rises by 12% to 4.3 mln tns as of Tue

MOSCOW, Oct 10 (PRIME) -- Russian fishermen caught 4.3 million tonnes of aquatic biological resources from January 1 through Tuesday, up 11.7% on the year, the Federal Fisheries Agency said in a statement.

In the Far Eastern Basin, the fish catch grew by 16.8% to more than 3.3 million tonnes, in the Northern Basin it amounted to 384,000 tonnes, and in the Western Basin it rose 8.8% to 61,000 tonnes. The fish catch in the basin of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov amounted to 32,000 tonnes, and in the basin of the Volga River and the Caspian Sea it rose 13.5% to 62,700 tonnes.

The catch under the quotas in the zones belonging to foreign countries, open and conventional fishing zones increased almost 8% to 440,000 tonnes.
